Radio Silence

Yeah. I sort of disappeared there for a few weeks, didn’t I? Those weeks sort of vanished for me, so it’s not just you. Like they never happened. What do you mean it’s mid-#%!$%-MARCH?!

I had to fly home to Minnesota for a family emergency. Well, really it was a family tragedy. My brother passed away in a car accident. I won’t say much more than that right now; there will be more than a few posts about it as I work through the emotions. I process by writing and I share what I write and I feel like there is much to learn from this, for me and for others. This is the first time in my adult life I’ve had to truly mourn someone I love. I consider myself very lucky to be in that situation, though it makes it quite a bit harder.

After two weeks in Minnesota, I came home for three days and then went on an already-booked trip to Louisiana to introduce the #!@%! Baby to some extended in-law family. We had a great time down in the bayou and it was wonderful to see family we hadn’t seen in about five years.

But now, we are HOME and I am thankful for that. I missed my bed. And the pets missed us, those poor bastards. I think we are all thankful to get back into a routine and get back to life here.

So, get ready for a future barrage of posts, including some about my brother, the trip south, the new things the kid learned in the past three weeks and all the drafts that have been stagnating in the pending pile.

Hope y’all didn’t miss me too much.

I’m so sorry for your loss! It’s hard to lose someone suddenly. I’m very glad to see you back though. Little A is getting really big!

I’m so very sorry to hear about your brother. Sincerest condolences to you and your family. I did notice your ‘radio silence’ and was worried something was wrong, wish _I’d_ been wrong 😦
